Chapter 480

Alisa hurried to summon the doctor upon hearing Maisy’s distress. About twenty minutes later, Olivia’s doctor arrived, his expression calm but attentive.

Maisy, still anxious, insisted on an immediate examination.

After a thorough check, the doctor looked perplexed. “Physically, everything appears normal. Her fever has subsided,” he reassured gently.

Maisy frowned in confusion. “Then why does she look like this? What could be wrong?”

Turning his attention to Olivia, the doctor asked softly, “Are you feeling unwell?”

Olivia tensed at the question, hesitating before answering. She pursed her lips and shook her head slowly. “No.”

“And your appetite? Any nausea or discomfort?” he pressed gently.

Again, Olivia shook her head. “No.”

The doctor exchanged a puzzled glance with Maisy, whose worry deepened as she clasped Olivia’s hands tightly. “Olivia, why do you look so distressed when you seem physically fine? Please don’t keep things from us.”

Across the room, Ana’s quiet grin hinted she knew more than she let on.

Alisa spoke up thoughtfully, “Maybe it’s her recent trouble sleeping. She’s been startled awake by nightmares lately.”

Maisy’s eyes widened. “Nightmares? Has she seen something troubling?”

She wondered if the pregnancy made Olivia more vulnerable to spiritual disturbances. “Should she visit the church again?” she asked Ana.

Ana’s reply was layered and cryptic. “If going to church brings her peace, then she should. Though, whether it will truly help is uncertain. Some challenges must be faced alone.”

Her words left Olivia confused, and Maisy found herself equally puzzled.

Ana then turned her gaze toward Maisy. “Ask her if she wants to go, Mom.”

Maisy looked gently at Olivia. “Would you like to go? We can plan to pray tomorrow afternoon. How does that sound?”

Without waiting for an answer, Maisy turned to Alisa. “Take her to the church tomorrow. Prayer might bring her some comfort.”

“Understood, Ma’am,” Alisa replied.

Maisy tenderly stroked Olivia’s cheeks, her heart heavy with concern. “You’re often unwell. Your body is fragile, my dear.”

Olivia remained silent.

With nothing physically alarming, the doctor took his leave.

Maisy, sensing Olivia’s need for rest, arranged for Alisa to stay by her side before they left the room.

Later, Maisy turned to Ana. “Where is Tyler? Is he still occupied? When will he be back?”

Ana’s response was indifferent. “I’m not sure. He’s probably still busy with the project.”

Maisy detected Ana’s evasiveness and suspected tension between her and Tyler. She sighed quietly and chose not to press further.

Meanwhile, Olivia remained in her room, drained of strength, silently battling the shadows within.
