Chapter 462

However, Tyler immediately relaxed his clenched fist. He glanced at Olivia as he took the box from the priest.

“What do you plan to do about this?”

He expected her to reject it, but instead, Olivia stretched out her hand.

“Give it to me, Tyler. I’ll handle it myself.”

A brief silence fell before he nodded.

“Sure.”

He handed her the box.

Olivia thought the Harrises cared only about the baby’s health, but Claude had gone a step further and gotten her a bracelet for her safety. Unsure of his intentions, she gripped the box tightly.

Tyler noticed the firmness of her hold, understanding how important it was to her.

“Seems like the rumors haven’t changed your impression of him.”

She hesitated, then said softly,

“Maybe he’s… misunderstood.”

Instantly, she regretted saying it but knew she couldn’t take it back. It felt like walking on a minefield.

Tyler processed her words, his expression darkening at the thought that she believed Claude was misunderstood.

“Misunderstood? Who told you that? Do you think we’ve treated him unfairly?”

“I was only speculating, Tyler,” she quickly clarified, hoping to move past the topic.

But he kept his intense gaze fixed on her.

“Do you understand the gravest taboo in our company?”

His voice turned icy.

“Those who oppose us. So mind your place and your conduct.”

Olivia inhaled deeply, silently steadying herself beneath the weight of his words.

Tyler then looked away, staring straight ahead.

An uneasy silence settled between them.

When they arrived home, he remained seated in the car, waiting.

She knew her words had unsettled him. Without hesitation, she stepped out.

As she closed the door and stood still, the car drove off.

At that moment, Ana and Maisy appeared from the living room, surprised by the scene.

“What happened? Why didn’t he come inside?” Maisy wondered aloud.

Ana approached Olivia, her expression curious.

“We retrieved the amulet, Grandma,” Olivia said.

“Is Tyler busy?” Maisy asked, puzzled by his refusal to enter the house.

“I’m not sure. Maybe,” Olivia replied.

Her quiet compliance left Ana with no reason to scold her.

“Go to your room.”

Olivia nodded and headed toward Maisy.

“I’ll be in my room.”

Concerned for Olivia’s well-being, Maisy let her go.

Once in her room, Olivia opened the box to find the bracelet inside.

Just then, her phone rang—it was Claude.
