Chapter 468
Olivia gripped her phone tightly.
The ringing felt like an alarm blaring in her ears—she didn’t want to answer it. She wanted nothing more than to toss the phone away.
But it kept ringing relentlessly, leaving her no choice but to answer, her irritation barely contained.
“Where’s Tyler?” Ana’s voice was sharp and direct.
Not knowing Tyler’s exact schedule, Olivia remained silent.
Sensing Olivia’s hesitation, Ana’s tone turned harsher. “Don’t you know he has an event tonight? He’s visiting the villagers, and it’s being broadcast live.”
“You’re his wife, accompanying him on this trip, yet you’re sleeping alone in the hotel room? Don’t you realize how that could tarnish his carefully crafted image if someone with ill intentions sees you?”
Olivia truly had no idea about Tyler’s schedule or plans. She had assumed her role was simply to accompany him quietly. “T-Tyler didn’t tell me about the event.”
Ana’s voice grew louder, frustration spilling over. “It seems you’re not taking me seriously. Do you think I invited you on this trip for no reason?”
Olivia closed her eyes, unable to respond.
“Listen carefully. If I lose this battle, you’ll be the first to suffer—not Naomi.”
Her heart pounding, Olivia felt a surge of panic. The vein in her neck throbbed as she bowed her head, swallowing hard.
Without another word, Ana hung up.
Olivia realized she was drenched in sweat. Glancing at the clock, it was only 8:00 PM.
Still feeling sore, she rose from the bed and switched on the TV.
Tyler appeared on the screen instantly.
Dressed in a sleek black suit, he exuded elegance and confidence before the camera. His posture was perfect, every movement mature and composed.
As he shook hands with a villager, his sophistication as an investor was evident, yet his smile was warm and humble.
Olivia recalled his cold demeanor toward her earlier that day and contrasted it with the ease he displayed on screen.
Though she understood it was a performance meant to earn trust and support, she found herself quietly charmed by him.
Without a doubt, he inspired a sense of security in those around him.
The event was covered by all local media outlets.
Olivia realized it was far from ideal to have been asleep in her hotel room when she was expected to attend as Mrs. Harris. Ana’s reprimand snapped her back to reality.
Oddly, the awareness brought her some comfort.
Turning off the TV, she headed to the bathroom, eager for a hot shower and a fresh change of clothes.
The site visit continued until 10:00 PM.
On the drive back to the hotel, Tyler instructed Camilla, “Start collecting signatures from the villagers tomorrow.”
Camilla looked surprised by his urgency. “Isn’t that premature? They might not be convinced yet.”
Tyler gazed out the window into the darkness. “I don’t want this to drag on. I want to wrap it up as soon as possible. Offer them compensation—the first to sign gets two properties in the city center, the second a single property, and the third a car.”
