Chapter 320

Olivia turned her head at the sound of Ana’s voice and saw her standing beside the bed, wrapped in a shawl. Ana still wore the same clothes from yesterday, a clear sign she had stayed through the night.

Surprised that Ana had done this for her, Olivia realized she was alone with her now. Gathering courage, she asked softly, “How’s… Naomi?”

Ana’s expression tightened, a hint of irritation in her voice. “Focus on yourself and the baby,” she snapped. “Naomi’s been through so many close calls—she’ll probably pull through this one, too.”

Olivia said nothing, her heart heavy with uncertainty.

Seeing Olivia’s discomfort, Ana softened her tone, trying to ease the tension. “You should eat something. It’s important for the baby,” she urged gently.

Just then, Alisa entered with a tray of food, setting it carefully on the nightstand. The aroma filled the room, but Olivia found she had no appetite.

“Try a little,” Alisa whispered kindly.

Olivia remained still, lost in thought. Understanding the depth of her worry, Ana finally said, “I’ll check on Naomi for you—after you’ve eaten.”

“Thanks, Mom,” Olivia replied quietly, gratitude touching her voice. Slowly, she began to eat.

After a while, Ana left the room.

Outside the door, Ben appeared, looking troubled. Ana, anxious, asked, “She’s awake now. Isn’t he going to visit her?”

Ben hesitated, his face clouded. “It’s a mess over there… I’m afraid it’s bad.”

“Bad?” Ana pressed him, her voice sharper.

“She’s back in the emergency room this morning,” Ben explained quietly, “and hasn’t come out yet.”

“What? Again?” Ana’s voice cracked. She swallowed hard before asking, “Is she… dying?”

To Ana, Naomi’s death might bring a strange kind of resolution. Ben, reluctant to dwell on the thought, gave a vague answer, “I think she’s lost her will to live. She’s refusing treatment.”

Ana was stunned. “She’s lost her will to live,” she echoed, disbelief and a strange relief mingling in her voice.

For a long moment, she said nothing, her expression unreadable. Then, she simply said, “Is that so? Okay,” and turned to walk back to Olivia’s room.

Meanwhile, chaos had engulfed Naomi’s situation. That morning, she had vomited blood and collapsed after refusing medication, forcing another rushed trip to the emergency room.

Outside, Hillary fainted, overwhelmed, while Darren stood nearby, distraught and tearful. He prayed fervently for Naomi’s recovery, even offering to bear her suffering in her place.

But in the midst of all this turmoil, no one seemed to spare a thought for Olivia.

Outside the hospital, the gloomy sky seemed to mirror the grim atmosphere within, as if silently counting down the unfolding tragedy.
