Chapter 369
The first thing Darren did after learning the news was to call Olivia. But no matter how many times he tried, she didn’t answer.
Seeing the growing worry on her husband’s face, Hillary’s expression turned cold.
“You seem very concerned about Olivia,” she remarked, her tone sharp. “But I don’t see you showing the same concern for Naomi.”
Darren sighed, realizing Hillary was trying to provoke him.
“How much more concerned should I be?” he retorted. “This isn’t some trivial issue. Look at the chaos this has caused—it’s the Harrises we’re talking about!”
A scandal involving a family like that could destroy Olivia. No matter how carefree Darren usually was, he understood the gravity of the situation.
Hillary crossed her arms. “Don’t worry. Olivia is pregnant—what can they really do to her? Though I must say, she wasn’t very smart about this. Even if she loves Claude, she should have known better. But it’s understandable. She only married into that family to save her sister. Olivia didn’t do anything wrong.”
She paused, her voice softening.
“This will be difficult, yes. But the Harrises are the ones who need to handle it now. You shouldn’t stress yourself over it.”
With that, Hillary turned and walked back inside.
Darren wanted to argue but stopped himself, the worry still etched on his face.
Meanwhile, after his tense conversation with Keith, Tyler stood in the garden, smoking in silence. His secretary, Linda, waited nearby.
She finally approached him.
“Mr. Tyler, should we issue a statement?” she asked cautiously.
The situation was spiraling. Even the Harris family’s influence couldn’t completely contain the spread of news in the current media landscape.
Tyler stood by the pond, watching the water ripple beneath the surface.
Linda continued carefully, “No one knows it was Claude, but isn’t it strange that his face wasn’t shown in the photos? Could Claude be behind this?”
Not wanting to overstep, she fell silent after that.
Tyler remained quiet, the faint glow of his cigarette casting shadows across his face. After a long moment, he flicked the cigarette into the pond, smoke trailing through the air.
“Arrange for a press conference,” he said finally.
Things had gone too far to remain silent.
“Yes, sir.”
Linda turned to carry out the order. Tyler exhaled slowly, then headed into the house.
Just as he entered the living room, his phone buzzed—Naomi was calling.
“Tyler, I read the news online,” she said anxiously. “I heard what happened to Olivia. Is the company all right?”
Tyler listened calmly, his tone steady.
“I’m handling it.”
“Do you think you’ll be able to keep the media out?”
“No.”
“What are you going to do, then? Olivia’s reputation… you have to help her! She’s my sister!” Naomi pleaded.
Tyler said nothing, continuing to walk as Naomi’s voice poured from the phone. He let her talk, unbothered.
Elsewhere, Sophie had learned about the scandal that morning. Growing more anxious with each passing hour, she tried repeatedly to contact Olivia. Every call went unanswered, and her worry mounted.
Finally, unable to wait any longer, Sophie left her home and headed to her office at Fancy Bank. As soon as she arrived, she immediately called someone who might know more.
“How were you caught on camera with Olivia?” she demanded, voice taut with urgency.
