Chapter 392
Claude had won the trust of all the major corporations, who eagerly sought his favor. The partnership between Yancey Bank and the Harris Group had become a defining milestone for both sides.
One day, Claude was holding a meeting with several board members and representatives from partnering companies. After the session ended, they left Yancey Bank together, chatting and joking casually.
Suddenly, one of the board members received a phone call and immediately turned his attention to Claude.
“Yes?” Claude asked with a friendly smile.
The board member reported, “Mr. Tyler is at Yancey House.”
Claude’s smile wavered for a moment, then he replied calmly, “Really?”
“Should we go over to see him?” the man asked.
Though Claude maintained his smile, his demeanor grew colder. The man’s tone toward Tyler was noticeably more respectful and cautious than how he usually treated Claude himself. After all, three members of the Harris family sat on the company’s board.
Feeling a chill in his heart, Claude forced himself to remain composed. “Since he made the effort to come here, let’s give him a warm welcome. Let’s go say hello.”
Yancey House was a private club owned by Yancey Bank, catering exclusively to the bank’s elite clientele.
Several partners quickly agreed. “It would be easier to discuss our future direction with Mr. Tyler here.”
Claude said nothing as he led the group to a private room. A bank manager stood by the door and announced, “Mr. Tyler.”
At the sound of his name, Tyler opened the door and stepped out.
The moment he saw Claude, Tyler said, “Claude?”
It was their first meeting since the scandal broke.
Claude studied Tyler’s expression and smirked. “I wasn’t expecting to see you here.”
“Just some business,” Tyler replied, his smile lacking warmth as his eyes flicked toward Angus.
“Anything else?” Tyler then addressed Angus, ignoring Claude.
Angus, worried he was too slow to respond, quickly said, “Yes, Mr. Tyler.”
Tyler asked, “Why don’t you speak to the vice chairman?” His tone was sharp, drawing the attention of everyone present.
Angus’ demeaning behavior toward Claude in front of the partners was blatant, yet he seemed unaware as he turned to Claude and said, “Can you leave us, Claude?”
Claude kept his smile and avoided looking at the partners. “Of course. Since Mr. Tyler came to see you, you should close the deal today,” he said smoothly.
“I’m sorry, Claude.”
“It’s fine,” Claude replied coolly. Then he glanced at Tyler. “I’ll leave you to your business, Tyler.”
“No problem,” Tyler said, and Angus stepped inside the room with him.
Claude looked back at the others and grinned. “Let’s go.”
