Chapter 341
Olivia’s voice was soft but firm.
Maisy frowned, clearly worried, but she chose not to push further. “Alright,” she said gently. “When your foot gets better, let’s go somewhere fun. You can choose the place.”
Olivia managed a small nod. “Thank you, Grandma.”
After leaving Olivia’s room, Maisy ran into Ana outside the door. Ana immediately noticed the concern on her mother-in-law’s face. “What’s wrong, Mom?” she asked.
Maisy sighed. “Just make sure Alisa looks after Olivia well. We don’t want any more problems, especially now.”
Ana gave a quick glance into the room and replied, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.”
With that, Ana entered Olivia’s room. Without much ceremony, she pulled a blanket over Olivia. Her tone was blunt and direct. “Don’t worry about what others think. Once your baby is born, you’ll be in charge of this house. The Harris family’s wealth will go to your son. That sick girl can’t stop you. You and your child will have everything. Nothing will change that.”
She meant to boost Olivia’s confidence, to reassure her.
But Olivia wasn’t interested in any of it. All she wanted was for her child to be healthy and safe. She had no desire to take sides in the tension between Ana and Naomi, nor did she wish to replace her sister in Tyler’s life.
So she remained silent.
Ana then handed her a warm bowl of soup. “You’re my only daughter-in-law. I just want the best for you,” she said softly. “Come on, have some soup.”
Olivia accepted the bowl but hesitated.
Ana stayed with her for a while longer, watching her carefully, then left the room.
After Ana was gone, Olivia stared at the untouched soup. Alisa, noticing this, asked quietly, “Ma’am, aren’t you going to eat?”
Olivia shook her head. “I don’t feel like it.”
As Alisa reached to take the bowl away, her hand accidentally brushed Olivia’s phone, knocking it to the floor. Flustered, she quickly picked it up and checked it for any damage, worried she’d upset Olivia further.
Olivia simply said, “Just give it back to me.”
Alisa handed the phone over nervously.
Olivia looked at the screen for a long moment, then powered it on. A message appeared immediately — it was from Sophie:
[How are you doing lately?]
Olivia stared at the message, her heart tightening. She hadn’t heard from Sophie in a while. Now, that single line made her feel both comforted and lonelier than before.
