Chapter 332
The nurse smiled warmly. “That’s wonderful to hear. Today’s test is a bit different, and there might be a little surprise. Could you please lie down on the bed?”
Olivia didn’t know what the test involved but obediently followed the nurse’s instructions. Once the nurse helped her settle onto the bed, she realized it was an ultrasound.
She felt no fear. Lying still, she noticed the nurse spreading a cool gel over her belly while the doctor focused on the screen.
Her body gradually relaxed as a wave of drowsiness swept over her. Her belly, now noticeably larger, reflected the nearly four months she had been pregnant.
Alisa and the nurse watched her anxiously, sharing a silent hope.
After some moments, the device stopped moving, and the doctor softly announced, “The baby is growing well.”
Olivia blinked, not fully grasping the meaning at first. Then the quiet hum of a printer filled the room.
She looked toward the doctor just as the nurse took the printout from him and stepped closer. “Look at this.”
Before she could say anything, Olivia found herself holding the image — a first glimpse of the baby inside her womb.
Amazed, she stared at the printout for a long while.
The nurse’s voice was cheerful. “Here’s the surprise. It’s a shame the father isn’t here to see this.”
The baby’s face was indistinct, pressed against the womb’s walls, making the features hard to discern.
A sudden rush of emotion swept over Olivia, as though a beam of light had pierced through her eyes. Could this really be how her baby looked?
She continued to gaze at the picture until Alisa softly remarked, “It looks a lot like Mr. Tyler.”
The nurse grinned. “Yes, it’s a boy.”
Both Alisa and the nurse exchanged delighted smiles — a baby boy was a joyful blessing to the family.
“I’m going to call Madam Maisy and Mrs. Ana,” Alisa said eagerly, wanting to share the wonderful news.
Olivia, still captivated by the image, barely noticed as they left the room.
The news soon brought joy to the Harrises. Alisa handed Olivia the phone, and Maisy’s excited voice greeted her, “I heard the baby looks a lot like Tyler, Olivia!”
Olivia knew it was too early to tell who the baby resembled and guessed the maid was simply caught up in the moment.
Hearing Maisy’s warm voice stirred a mix of emotions within Olivia, but above all, joy began to take root — this was the first time she had seen her baby.
She clutched the photo tightly.
Maisy’s happiness overflowed as she exclaimed, “I have a great-grandson! It’s time to shop for baby boy clothes!”
