Chapter 386
Tyler finally released Olivia’s hands. Inside the confined space of the elevator, he looked at her with a calm, almost distant expression and said softly, “You deserve a better future.”
Olivia instantly understood what he meant. She straightened her posture, smiled faintly, and replied, “Got it, Tyler.”
The elevator doors opened just then, and they hesitated for a moment before Tyler spoke again. “I’ll take you home.”
As the doors began to close, Olivia responded quietly. They stepped out together, and the elevator doors slid shut behind them.
Walking toward the car, a heavy silence settled between them.
Tyler took the driver’s seat while Olivia sat beside him. The only light came from a small overhead lamp inside the vehicle.
She placed her hands on her lap, gently feeling the baby’s movements once more. The fetal kicks had become stronger and more frequent as her pregnancy progressed, but Olivia remained composed, hiding any inner turmoil.
Though the night air outside was cold, the car felt warm and still. Olivia discreetly touched her belly with a soft smile.
Tyler started the engine. “Let’s go.”
Olivia gave a brief nod in response, and the car smoothly pulled away.
Once they arrived home, neither moved right away. They stayed seated in silence inside the car.
Inside the living room, Ana was waiting. The sound of the engine caught her attention, and she set down her cup with a quiet clink. Rising with a confident smile, she waited for them to come inside.
Olivia broke the silence first. “I’m getting out.”
Tyler said nothing but opened the door for her. Even after she stepped into the house, he lingered in the car.
Ana watched Olivia enter, poised to speak, but Tyler soon followed quietly behind.
She looked at him expectantly, waiting for a reaction about the earlier confrontation.
Instead, Tyler walked straight upstairs without a word.
Ana called after him, “Is there nothing you’d like to say?”
He stopped, glanced back briefly, and answered dryly, “What do you want me to say?”
“Are you still set on being with a woman who’s so vicious, she harms her own sister?” Ana pressed.
Tyler scoffed but replied calmly, “It’s late. You should rest.”
He dismissed her accusations as nonsense.
Turning to Olivia, Ana asked, “Will you even be able to sleep tonight?”
Olivia stayed silent, her gaze lowered.
“I won’t let her stir up any more storms,” Ana declared with determination.
Tyler ignored her words and instead focused on Olivia. “Let’s go upstairs and rest.”
