Chapter 307
After Ana left the room, Olivia sank to the floor, feeling completely drained of energy.
That evening, Tyler visited Naomi. Immediately, Naomi asked, “How’s Olivia doing today?” She always worried about her.
Tyler replied simply, “She’s okay.”
But Naomi sensed something was off. “What’s wrong? Something’s bothering you, isn’t it?”
“Nothing,” Tyler said, avoiding the topic.
Seeing he didn’t want to talk, Naomi shifted gears. She picked something up from the bed, smiling softly. “Guess what this is?”
Tyler glanced over and saw a postcard in her hand.
Naomi smiled warmly. “I got this today. Remember? We wrote it together in a little shop during our vacation ten years ago. They promised to send it after ten years—and they did.”
“Wow, ten years. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long,” she added thoughtfully.
Tyler said nothing for a while. He took the postcard and read their messages—calling each other “daddy” and “mommy,” sharing hopes for the future.
They had dreamed of being married with a child by now.
But life hadn’t unfolded as planned.
Tyler’s emotions tangled as he finally said, “This is really special.”
Naomi’s voice softened, tinged with melancholy. “I’m surprised the shop is still around. We’re still together, but our dream of a family hasn’t come true.”
Tyler placed the postcard gently on the nightstand. “We’ll have a child when you get better.”
Naomi smiled with quiet confidence. “Yes, I’m sure of it. I’ve been feeling much better lately.”
Tyler remained quiet, lost in his thoughts throughout the day.
Naomi tried again, “What’s really bothering you?”
“Just work stuff,” Tyler replied, sitting on the couch and opening a magazine.
Naomi sensed his mood but didn’t press further. Instead, she suggested, “How about we go out tonight?”
“You need to stay and rest with your health like this,” Tyler said without looking up.
Naomi simply smiled, keeping her feelings to herself.
Meanwhile, Olivia was consumed by her worries. She couldn’t stop thinking about what Claude had said.
Standing alone in her room, she placed a hand on her belly, convincing herself she needed to leave. She planned to take her baby and go as soon as the child was born.
She wondered why time seemed to drag so slowly.
After leaving the hospital, Tyler got into his car, and Adam drove him to the Pearces’ residence.
Claude appeared outside just as they arrived, walking over to Tyler’s side of the car.
