Chapter 328
Tyler’s hand froze midair as Linda’s words reached him. His gaze shifted toward the door, where Olivia stood outside. One was inside the room, the other outside—separated by a quiet distance heavy with unspoken tension.
Olivia remained silent, steady in her place, while Tyler’s expression darkened, conflicted and unreadable.
Naomi, not facing the door, didn’t see Olivia. She only noticed Tyler’s gaze fixed on the entrance. Softly, she asked, “What is it, Tyler?”
Tyler glanced away from Olivia and forced a casual smile. “Nothing. Want some gyozas?”
Naomi’s face brightened at the mention, and she nodded. “Okay. It’s been ages since I last had them. We used to eat them all the time back in university.”
But Tyler seemed distracted, barely hearing her words as he stared at the food in his hands, lost in thought.
After a pause, he said to Linda, “You can leave now.”
Linda hesitated but nodded, “Okay, Mr. Tyler.”
Turning away from Olivia at the door, Tyler looked back at Naomi. “Still thinking about that gyoza place?”
Caught in memories, Naomi smiled wistfully. “Yes. That’s where we used to go on dates.” She sighed softly. “Too bad it closed down.”
Tyler chuckled. “I’ll try to find the chef for you.”
Naomi’s smile grew brighter. “Really? That would be wonderful.”
Carefully, Tyler scooped some gyozas, letting them cool a bit before offering one to her. “Try this one.”
Naomi smiled weakly. “I’m not a kid, you know.”
“You act like one sometimes,” Tyler teased lightly.
Naomi laughed softly.
From the doorway, Olivia watched them. She saw only Tyler’s indifferent profile as he fed her sister.
Soon, Linda left, closing the door firmly behind her. She turned to Olivia and offered politely, “Let me take you back, ma’am.”
Olivia summoned her calm and replied, “No, thank you. The maid is here. She’ll take me back.”
Linda stood quietly as Olivia was wheeled away.
That afternoon, back in her room, Alisa said gently, “Mr. Tyler will probably visit you tomorrow.”
Olivia said nothing, only nodding slightly as she gazed out the window.
Chapter 329
The next morning, Ana’s frustration boiled over—Tyler still hadn’t visited. Her anger spilled onto Keith as soon as he entered.
“Do you know what happened to your daughter-in-law?” Ana demanded sharply.
Keith looked up, surprised. “What?”
“We haven’t seen your son since his wife got hurt,” Ana snapped.
Keith frowned. “What do you mean?”
“He’s been spending all his time in that sick woman’s room,” Ana said bitterly.
Sitting on the couch, arms crossed, she glared. “Aren’t you going to do something?”
Keith’s expression darkened. He usually kept out of Tyler’s personal affairs. But now that Tyler was married, it felt wrong for him to still hold onto Naomi. Concerned, he said, “I’ll give him a call.”
Ana scoffed. “You better. Don’t come complaining to me when things go wrong.”
“Alright,” Keith replied and headed upstairs.
Once alone, Keith dialed Tyler’s number. Tyler answered quickly, guessing the reason. “Did Mom ask you to call me?”
Tyler was no longer in Naomi’s room; he was heading to the elevator.
Keith spoke firmly, “Olivia is pregnant with your child. What you’re doing isn’t right.”
In the elevator, Tyler’s voice was low. “I’m a bit busy right now.” After a pause, he added, “I’ll visit her later.”
Keith nodded, understanding. “Alright, just handle it well.”
Tyler ended the call.
Olivia was finishing paperwork for her discharge. Thankfully, the baby was healthy. Doctors had observed her carefully for days and now recommended she rest at home.
As Alisa packed their things, Olivia lay on the bed, waiting for evening.
Suddenly, footsteps stopped at the door. Alisa looked up in surprise.
“Mr. Tyler?” she greeted.
Olivia froze. Tyler, who had been absent for a week, was finally here.
His expression calm as he approached her bed, he asked quietly, “Are you okay now?”
It was the first thing he’d said since he’d been gone. There was no warmth, only polite concern.
Olivia lowered her eyes and after a long pause answered, “Yes.”
