Chapter 361
The moment Olivia’s words escaped her lips, regret washed over her like a cold tide.
Tyler had already started to leave but paused just a few steps away, his voice low and firm. “Remember, you shouldn’t interfere. She doesn’t need pity.”
How could Olivia not feel compelled to intervene? Watching Ana’s sadness from the sidelines was unbearable. If that were her mother, she knew she would be heartbroken too.
Yet, as she recalled Ana’s ruthless war with Naomi, the conflict inside her settled. Olivia reminded herself—she had no right to step in. She was nothing more than a pawn caught in the crossfire, powerless even to protect herself.
Tyler’s voice cut through her thoughts again, cold and final. “The only thing you need to do now is give birth to the baby. You have no right to interfere in anything else.”
The humiliation that had burned her cheeks began to fade, replaced by a stunned silence. After a long pause, she whispered, “I understand.”
Tyler’s shadow loomed grimly across the floor. Withdrawing his icy gaze, he finally turned and left—this time heading to the bathroom.
Having just arrived home, it was usual for Tyler to step out again after a quick shower, a habit formed during his recent hospital visits.
Olivia listened to the soft sound of running water.
But he didn’t shower fully today; instead, he emerged after washing his face, droplets still clinging to his skin and dampening half his shirt. He tossed his tie casually onto the table, his expression unreadable.
“I won’t be around for a while. Behave yourself while I’m gone,” he said flatly.
Just then, Linda entered the room to begin packing.
Olivia watched Tyler, puzzled by his sudden departure.
He didn’t explain further, simply sitting on the couch and waiting.
Her shadow flickered on the floor like a fragile, drifting cloud.
After gathering some clothes, Linda approached the couch. “Should I pack your daily necessities from the bathroom?”
“Please do,” Tyler replied without looking up.
Olivia turned to him, trying to keep her voice steady. “Are you moving out?”
Tyler met her gaze, answering curtly, “I’m going on a business trip.”
Upon hearing that, Olivia offered softly, “Then why don’t I move back home?”
Tyler seemed distracted by Linda’s presence and didn’t hear her at first. When he caught her words, he asked, “What did you say?”
Thinking he missed it, Olivia repeated, “I’ll go home. I’m more comfortable there.”
Tyler ignored her suggestion, instructing Linda to fetch his bags. He rose from the couch.
Perplexed, Olivia pressed, “Tyler—”
He stopped in front of her, eyes serious. “Nothing should happen to the baby.”
His meaning was clear—she was to stay, no matter what.
