Chapter 338

Tyler seemed to eat only because Maisy had asked him to. Olivia stared quietly at her plate but didn’t touch the food at first.

Tyler continued eating his meal, while Maisy and Ana watched the scene silently. After a moment, Olivia finally picked up her fork and began eating the food he had placed before her.

Seeing this, Tyler went back to his own plate.

No one spoke as they ate.

Then, suddenly, Maisy broke the silence, asking, “Aren’t you going out today?”

Olivia didn’t look up but listened carefully for Tyler’s response.

Tyler set down his fork, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said, “I have some work to do.”

Maisy’s eyes flashed with frustration. “You’ve been busy for days. That’s enough work for now.”

Tyler remained silent.

Ana set her utensils down with a clatter. “Why do you insist on taking care of her yourself? Olivia’s sister is your in-law—we can hire a nurse to look after her.”

Olivia gripped her fork tightly but then released it, bracing herself for the argument she sensed was coming.

Tyler put his napkin on the table and looked directly at Ana. Leaning back, he asked calmly, “Since when do you care about this? If you have so much time, why don’t you check on Dad?”

Ana glared at him, hurt and angry. After a moment, she scoffed, “Sounds like I’m meddling in your affairs, doesn’t it?”

Tyler stood up abruptly. “I’m done. You can continue.” Then he walked away from the table.

Olivia sat frozen, unsure of what to do. As the conversation unfolded, she realized something about Ana and Keith.

Since joining the family, Olivia had barely seen Keith at home. She had assumed he was busy, but even when work should have ended, he was rarely there.

She noticed Ana and Keith barely spoke to each other. They looked like a couple, but an invisible distance lingered between them.

Tyler seemed indifferent to his parents’ relationship as well.

This was all new to Olivia—she had never witnessed a family quite like this before.

She said nothing, quietly setting down her utensils and sitting as if she weren’t there.

After Tyler left, Ana stood up and said to Maisy, “I’m done too, Mom. You can keep eating.”

Maisy sighed and tried to comfort Ana. “Don’t mind what Tyler said.”

“Why would I?” Ana forced a smile, her eyes flashing with determination. She was upset but ready to show Tyler the consequences of opposing her, even if he was her son.

With that, Ana left as well.

Maisy looked worried and gently urged Olivia, “Please, eat.”

Olivia didn’t look up but kept eating silently.

That day, breakfast ended abruptly.
