Chapter 304

Ana looked up as Olivia approached and smiled warmly. “I was looking for you with Nina’s help, and here you are!”

Olivia’s expression was subdued. “I just went for a walk,” she replied softly.

Ana didn’t press further. “We’ll be leaving soon. Stay close for a little while.”

“Okay,” Olivia agreed quietly, settling down beside Ana.

Just then, Claude entered the room.

“It’s time for the ceremony. There’s food and drinks outside. Let’s go,” he announced.

Ana nodded and set her cup down. “Let’s.”

They both stood, and Olivia followed, the three of them heading outside together.

During the ceremony, Olivia stayed close to Ana, carefully avoiding speaking with Claude.

Claude, now the head of Yancey Bank, delivered a poised speech. He thanked the Harris family and spoke about the bank’s future—its investments, fund management, and its significant role in international finance, managing nearly 20% of global transactions.

The bond between the Harrises and Pearces was strong; Claude and Morgan had been childhood friends. Though Morgan was gone, Claude remained close to her family. His leadership at the bank and his gratitude toward the Harrises reaffirmed their lasting connection.

The audience applauded enthusiastically when he finished, Ana included, her smile polite but inscrutable.

Sitting beside Ana, Olivia found the applause unsettling. It felt as though Morgan—the tie between the families—had been forgotten, her death quietly overshadowed by forced smiles and calculated alliances.

It seemed the event was more about what each side could gain.

Reluctantly, Olivia joined the applause.

Claude, humble yet resolute, continued. “It’s been seven years, but I’m back. Thank you to everyone at Yancey Bank for your patience. I’m here to lead us toward new beginnings.”

Nearby, Sophie whispered to Jacob, “My brother’s so impressive.”

Jacob, now embraced by the family, smiled in agreement as he watched Claude. “He really is.”

Sophie squeezed Jacob’s hand gently. “Once we’re married, I’ll make sure you get a good position at the bank.”

Jacob returned her warm smile. “I want to earn my place, Soof. You don’t have to do that for me.”

But Sophie was determined. She cared deeply for him and wanted everyone to recognize his worth.
