Chapter 301
Olivia walked a few steps behind Claude, her eyes cautiously watching him. Suddenly, he stopped and turned to face her.
“Claude, what’s going on?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of unease. Though gentle by nature, she was no pushover.
Noticing the flicker of fear in her eyes, Claude smiled softly. “Did I scare you?”
Olivia said nothing. Deep down, she was definitely unsettled, but she wasn’t ready to admit it. Today, Claude was dressed sharply in a crisp white suit—clean, precise—but somehow, that only made her more nervous around him.
“Are you scared of me now, Olivia?” he teased, still smiling.
Before she could respond, Claude suddenly grabbed her hand firmly and began to pull her forward at a brisk pace.
“Claude! What are you doing?” Olivia tried to pull her hand free, but his grip was firm, and he quickened their pace.
The world around them blurred as they moved, the wind whipping against her face. It felt like they were running away from something, the heavy rhythm of their breathing filling the air.
Finally, they came to a stop on the hotel lawn. Claude released her hand, and Olivia immediately stepped back, rubbing her wrist where he had held her.
Then, unexpectedly, Claude spoke again. “Let’s run away, Olivia.”
For a moment, amidst the chaos, Olivia felt a strange flutter of romance. But then Claude stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Let’s get away from here… with the baby.”
Her heart skipped, and she instinctively recoiled. She remembered the danger Claude represented—after all, Morgan had lost his life because of him. “Please, stay away from me, Claude,” she said firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Claude’s expression shifted, his eyes growing misty. “Are you afraid of me?” he asked quietly, vulnerability touching his voice.
Olivia continued to back away, silent. She knew she needed to be careful around him—especially now, with everything that had changed.
But Claude didn’t give up. He stepped forward once more and seized her hand again. “Come with me, Olivia. Let’s leave this place together,” he pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice.
Panic rising, Olivia struggled to break free. “Please, let me go,” she begged, pulling away as best she could.
Claude’s face fell, the pain evident as he finally released her hand.
